Waterleau (Capacity Planning Tool)
Waterleau engaged WDDW to restore confidence in its mission-critical Capacity Planning Tool after a key SAP-integrated feature had been malfunctioning for more than a year. Working within a complex legacy codebase, WDDW rebuilt the affected module, introduced data governance mechanisms, and delivered a complete solution within eight weeks. The result was restored data integrity, renewed trust in the platform, and a continued partnership focused on future enhancements.
Restoring Confidence in a Mission-Critical Planning Platform
When Waterleau invested in an internal Capacity Planning Tool, the goal was to give project managers and senior management better visibility into resource allocation, budgeting, and project profitability.
However, one of the platform's most critical features — the SAP-integrated "freeze hours" functionality — had been malfunctioning for more than a year. As a result, the underlying data could no longer be trusted, affecting planning, reporting, and resource management across the organization.
Despite considerable effort, the previous development partner had been unable to resolve the issue. Confidence in the platform declined, users increasingly relied on individual Excel files, and a significant investment risked becoming an unusable asset.
That is when Waterleau turned to WDDW.
Stepping into a complex codebase developed by multiple engineers with inconsistent coding standards and limited documentation, our team first had to understand how the system behaved before solving the underlying problems.
Rather than applying a quick fix, we rebuilt the entire "freeze hours" module, refactored affected functionality, and introduced additional data governance mechanisms to detect discrepancies between SAP data and what was displayed inside the platform. Leveraging expertise in SAP API integrations, Python, and Angular, we focused not only on fixing the issue, but on improving the long-term reliability and maintainability of the system.
Within eight weeks, the complete solution was delivered on time.
The result was more than a technical fix.
Waterleau regained confidence in the platform. Data accuracy was restored, project managers and senior management could once again rely on the system for budgeting and resource planning, and the Capacity Planning Tool evolved back into the business asset it was originally intended to be.
Today, WDDW continues to work with Waterleau on the next phase of the platform, building new capabilities and serving as a trusted long-term technology partner.
“"WDDW approached our challenges with a true partnership mindset. They were willing to take ownership of a complex issue that had been difficult to solve and remained committed throughout the process. What stood out most was their open communication, transparency, and positive attitude. We always felt involved and informed, and their team consistently brought constructive energy and a solution-oriented approach. Despite the complexity of the existing system, WDDW successfully delivered a working solution and helped restore confidence in our platform. Their commitment and willingness to go the extra mile made them feel like an extension of our own team rather than just another development partner. We appreciate the collaboration and look forward to continuing to work together on future improvements."”
